The conditional tense is the tense used to refer to what would happen. One might ask "An cluinneadh tu?" [Would you hear?] to which the response would be "Chluinneadh. Chluinninn." [Yes. I would hear.]

N.B. Two features of the conditional tense not tested in this quiz are featured in the above exchange. The first is that the second person pronoun thu is replaced with the form tu. The second is the special first person singular ending ainn/inn ("chluinninn" [I would hear]) that is mandatory in the conditional tense. There is an additional -amaid ("chluinniamaid" [we would hear]) first person plural ending that is optional.
